Born February 19, 1942 in Pekin to Edward and Lola (Redfern) Hundt, he married Sharon Lynn Davis on January 26, 1963 at Second Reformed Church in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Lynn (Kevin) Grebner of Green Valley; one son, Michael Hundt of Pekin; two granddaughters, Hope (Robert) Bibens of Des Moines, Iowa and Hannah Grebner of Des Plaines; one great-granddaughter, Hattie Bibens; one brother, Marvin (Laura) Hundt of Pekin and one sister, Shirley Loeffelmann of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jack Hundt and Robert Hundt and one sister, Joyce Riddle.
Bruce was a 1960 graduate of Tremont High School.
He worked for Tremont Lumber for many years in the yard and making deliveries. He also did construction for many years both before and after his time at Tremont Lumber. Bruce started his working career at Vogel’s Market as a teenager and then at Arnett’s Grocery in Pekin.
Bruce loved people and had a gift to talk with anyone. He always had a project he was working on his property and lived in a barn that he had built with his own hands.
He attended Pekin Bible Church in Pekin. Bruce enjoyed hosting a men’s Bible study at his home for more than 20 years.
His memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 24, 2023 at Pekin Bible Church. Pastor Chad Nightingale will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Friday at the church. Cremation has been accorded. Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
