She was born August 25, 1947 in Pekin to Fred and Helen (Boyer) Carrick.
Surviving are one son, Sean (Rebecca) Carrick of South Pekin; one daughter, Kathleen (Mike Sipka) of Pekin; four grandchildren, Max Erin Sipka and Owen Michael Sipka, both of Pekin, Sarah (Chris) Janes of Hannibal, Missouri and Amy Quotskyva of Delavan; three great-grandchildren, Tessa Marie Janes of Hannibal, Missouri, Bryce Palladini and Espen Quotskyva, both of Pekin; one great-great-grandchild, Aero Quotskyva of Pekin; three siblings, Fred (Debbie) Carrick of California, Margaret (John) Walrath of Washington and John Carrick of Goofy Ridge and her sister- in-law, Glenna Carrick of Pekin.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dean Carrick and Tommy Carrick.
Bonnie was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Vietnam War. She returned to Vietnam and worked at an orphanage on the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
She had worked as a nurse in the operating room at Pekin Hospital. She later worked for Long Technical College in Arizona as an instructor for five years before retiring in 2006.
A loving and caring person, Bonnie was heavily involved with her kids growing up from being the Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout den mother and even learning how football was played so she could teach her son. She loved spending time with family and watching her grandchildren at their sporting events. She also enjoyed going to Mineral Springs Park and looked forward to holidays with the family, especially Christmas.
An avid baseball and hockey fan, Bonnie loved to watch the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Black Hawks and Phoenix Coyotes. She enjoyed knitting, embroidering, cooking and baking. She also enjoyed playing bingo at the high rise with her friends.
A celebration of Bonnie’s life will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the Royal Avenue Shelter at Mineral Springs Park in Pekin. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
