Betty L Awe

Born June 8, 1934 in Springfield to John and Leola (Luers) Cavitt, she married Paul E. Awe on December 28, 1956 in Riverton. He survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Barbara J. (Jeff) Tibbetts of Pekin and Cheryl A. (Dennis) Shepler of Wellington, Florida; three grandchildren, Brittney Shepler of Wellington, Florida, Bailey Tibbetts and Camryn Tibbetts, both of Pekin and one brother, John (Mary Jane) Cavitt of Springfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Gary W. Awe.

Betty was a 4th Grade Teacher for Pekin Public Schools District 108 for over 20 years. She taught at C.B. Smith School and retired from Wilson Intermediate School in 2000.

She loved to read and crochet. She also enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren.

She was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin, where her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 3, 2006. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2006at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
