Mike and family,

Sorry to hear of your loss.

I remember well the journal we were to keep during my middle school years at Georgetown Junior High under Mrs. C's instruction.  Mrs. C would read our journals, make little edits to grammer and punctuation, and also write inspiring notes in the margins in response to our writings.  She was a teacher who greatly cared about her students and I remember getting notes such "I care! I am available to listen if needed."  She touched my 8th grade life with kindness and made a lasting impact on my life.  Mrs. C - You were an inspiration!

Mrs. Calhoun is one of those teachers that you never forget.  She had so much patience with me, which not many had at that time.  May she rest in peace.

Kathy and I are so very sad to learn of your sweet mother's passing. In my junior high years at GJHS, Mrs. Calhoun  was a remarkable teacher with great intellect, knowledge and discernment. 
Later in life, she and Bob became dear friends as we discovered our common interest in antique collecting and American history. We enjoyed her wit and knowledge so very much. 
We trust Our Lord will comfort and sustain you all during these next weeks, months and years. Much love to each of you. Jim and Kathy  

Mrs. Calhoun was my teacher at Georgetown. She truly had a heart for her students. She had an uncanny way of knowing just how to reach out to each and every student. I only remember a few of my teachers from my early school years, and Mrs. Calhoun has always been at the top of that list.

Sorry Mrs. Calhoun for my editing mistakes on my tribute... will do a better editing job next time! I do love to write and it is because of you! 

Mrs. Calhoun was one of the best teachers in the world . She helped both my older sister and me. Her love for us was self evident as she helped to forge who we are today. She remembered both of us last year when she wrote me a thank you note for her birthday card. I became a teacher partly due to her example. Thank you again Mrs. Calhoun fir all you did fir us! 

I had her as teacher at Rogers Elementary school. I realy loved her so sorry to hear of passing. A great person someone to respect. God Bless her and family and friends


Thanks for 8th grade English, and everything else

Dear Mike, Linda and Roberta,
I had the blessed privilege of being your mother's student while attending Georgetown Middle School a good number of moons ago. She was a no nonsense teacher with a great amount of heart for her students; and I am grateful for her incredible influence. My last memory of her is having the blessed opportunity to enjoy an Italian style lunch in Peoria (along with with her long time friend Shirley Lange, and Roberta Calhoun) in 2014. She leaves behind the legacy of positively touching the lives of countless impressionable middle school students during her long tenure as a teacher. She may now be gone, but never forgotten. May she now rest in peace, and may you, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren find God's peace which surpasses understanding until you meet again in eternity.
