Barbara Jean Adkins

Born April 9, 1947 in Peoria to Jesse and Stephanie (Babiarz) White, she married Eugene W. Adkins on July 3, 1965 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Peoria. He survives.

Also surviving are two daughters; Nikki (Joseph) Miller of Hudson and Robin (Darrell Martin) Hudson of Bellevue; one grandchild, Terry (Amanda Durdel) Hudson of Peoria; two great-grandchildren, Trace Hudson and Trever Hudson of Peoria; one brother, Patrick White; three sisters, Dorothy Kellenberger, Alice Guevara and Rose Adkins and many beloved nieces and nephews. She also leaves two pet birds, Agador and Nigel and her pet dog, Sophie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mary and Patricia; and two brothers, Andrew “Stevie” and Edward White.

Barbara recently retired as a home health caregiver. She loved to craft and oil paint with her husband. Barbara also enjoyed gardening and was an avid shopper. She loved her family, whether it was attending sporting events of her great-grandchildren or spending time with her family on a cruise.

She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Peoria.

Her private funeral will be at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Father Jeremy Freehill will officiate. Cremation will be accorded following the funeral.
