Born May 31, 1929 in Elm Grove Township, Tazewell County to Frank and Millicent (Ashcraft) Rowell, she married Bedford Newman Wilson on December 24, 1947 in Peoria. He passed away September 19, 1993 in Denver, Colorado. She also was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Frank Junior, Harley, Floyd, Fred, and Lawrence; and three sisters, Viola, Alberta, and Marietta.
Surviving are three daughters, Kristine (Dennis) Smith of Pekin, Karen (Kenneth) Coats of Glasford, KaSanda Wilson of Pekin; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lilah (Ronald) Bright of Tremont.
She was a 1947 graduate of Pekin Community High School.
Almeda had worked for Central Telephone Company in Pekin as an operator for many years. She also had co-owned and operated Cobbler Corner Restaurant in Pekin for 12 years.
She was a member of Community of Christ Church in Pekin.
Almeda enjoyed traveling, dancing, and spending time with her family.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
