Roy H. Singh

Roy H. Singh, age 88, went to be with the Lord in Houston, Texas on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. Roy was born in Hague, Guyana on May 21, 1936. He attended Teachers Training College and the University of Guyana obtaining a Bachelor of Science and Masters of Education degrees. Roy taught at Canadian Missions and Lutheran Schools. He was a school principal from 1968 to 1982 at Ascension Lutheran, Covent Garden Elementary and Dolphin High Schools. He emigrated to the United States to join Pastor Rupley at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in New Orleans, Louisiana where he assisted in preaching and teaching Bible Classes. A member of the Lutheran Church for 45 years, Roy was an avid reader of the Bible, Christian Literature and a listener and supporter of Christian TV Programs. He was a concerned Christian who was always witnessing for Christ and took time to write a little book "America, A Nation in Crisis" possible solutions hoping it would facilitate reforms and make America a better place for all Americans.His second career as a LUTCF Agent took him to serve in underprivileged areas in New Orleans where many were grateful to him especially after Hurricane Katrina. Roy moved to Houston following Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and enjoyed dabbling in real estate and gardening. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Doreen; son, Michael; and daughter June. Private services to celebrate the life of Roy H. Singh will be held Friday at Forest Park South Funeral Home Pearland, Texas.
