"For a mother is the only person on earth who can divide her love among 10 children and each child still have all her love.” – Unknown
Rosa Correa Guzman was born in Querendaro, Michoacan, Mexico on July 27, 1931, and passed away peacefully at her home in Houston, Texas on January 11, 2024, at the age of 92.
Rosa was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Guzman, three of her children, Fidel Guzman, Jose Luis Guzman, and Abel Guzman. She is survived by seven of her children, in order of birth, Esperanza Guzman Barajas, David Guzman, Alberto Guzman, Evelina Brininger, Jesse Guzman, Lamberto Guzman and Noe Guzman, as well as, 11 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.
She was a devoted wife to her husband, “Je”, with whom she shared 66 blessed years. She was a loving and nurturing soul to her ten children, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She overcame the hardships of immigration, migrant farm work, and all that came with moving to the United States. Her indomitable spirit pushed her through any grief and inspired those around her to persevere. During life, she encouraged her children to succeed while also instilling in them kindness for others. She welcomed each new daughter or son-in-law of the family with loving open arms.
Her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Mama” or “Mom”, always looked forward to visiting her. She greeted them with lots of love, a hug and a warm meal. Her greatest joy in life was having her family together in her home, enjoying her cooking and each other’s company. She enjoyed hearing their discussions knowing that they were on the path to better futures. She took comfort in knowing that her sacrifices had made each generation’s lives better.
Thank you, Mom. You will be missed, but never forgotten.
“Love is patient, love is kind,” 1 Corinthians 13:4
