Ismael Arturo Fernandez, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on November 16, 2023, at the age of 54 years old. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Ismael touched the lives of many with kindness, compassion, and unwavering positive spirit.
Born on June 22,1969, in Chicago, IL. Ismael was the son of Fernando A. Fernandez-Guerrero, Melba Rivera-Simo Fernandez, and stepmother Virginia Fernandez, (preceding him in death) sister Yvette Fernandez, brother to Mercedes Fernandez and Ismael Antonio Fernandez. He grew up in Broadview, IL and developed a deep love for his community and the people within it such as his extended family friends Nurius and Doreen John-Baptiste, their children Annette John-Baptiste, Karen Colat, and Susan Colaire. Ismael became a proud and dedicated Marine and Platoon Sergeant, who served in Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Ismael was a graduate of DeVry Institiute of Technology in Chicago, IL, where he pursued his passion for Information Technology. He continued to expand his knowledge throughout his life, always eager to learn and grow.
Ismael's professional journey was marked by dedication and excellence. He began his career at WWT in Phoenix, AZ as an Architect-Virtualization at Maricopa County, and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a Senior Consultant for Insight Direct USA in Tempe, AZ, then transitioned into another senior role as a Senior Engineer for Citrix at Houston Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX, which then pioneered the remarkable transformation at the Department of Revenue in Phoeniz, AZ as the Senior Manager of Network and Systems, which led him to the innovation change leadership structure for the City of Chandler as the IT Sr. Infrastructure Manager. His colleagues remember him as a visionary leader, always guiding and inspiring those around him. Ismael's commitment to his work was matched only by his unwavering integrity and genuine care for his team and fellow colleagues.
Outside of his professional life, Ismael was a devoted family man. He was a loving husband to his wife Candy Fernandez, and a pillar of support for their children, Isabel Y. Fernandez, Cristian A. Fernandez and his stepson Candon A. Morgan. Ismael's treasured family gatherings, where he would share stories, laughter, and his remarkable sense of humor. He had a gift for bringing people together and creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere that made everyone feel at ease.
Ismael had a wide range of interests and hobbies that brought him joy throughout his life. He was an avid reader, always eager to explore new literary worlds and share his favorite books with others. He found solace in nature and often spent time conducting nature walks, hiking, hunting and opened his own woodshop business which brought him so much joy and fulfillment. Ismael was also known for his passion for music (Salsa), playing various congas and congas drums instruments and sharing melodic talents with those lucky enough to hear him perform.
A true humanitarian at heart, Ismael dedicated his time and resources to individuals to support them with their Veteran Disabilities, Benefits and Claims. He believed in the power of giving back and worked tirelessly to make a positive impact on others. Ismael's selflessness and generosity touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on those he helped.
Ismael A. Fernandez will be deeply missed by his family, extended family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will continue to inspire and guide us. May his soul find eternal peace, and may we carry his spirit of compassion and joy in our hearts forever.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Ismael A. Fernandez will be held on December 2, 2023, at Forest Park South Funeral Home, at 12650 Shadow Creek Pkwy, Pearland, Texas 77584. In the reception area from 8:00 am-10:00 am there will be light bites and fellowship which is optional, and service will begin promptly at 11:00 am in the chapel, fellowship in the reception area which is optional will follow after the services.
