Geneva Cureton Dye joined her parents and nine siblings in heaven on February 2, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 5, 2025, at the Forest Park South Funeral Home from 2-4pm 12650 Shadow Creek Parkway, Pearland, TX 77584.
Geneva had a very full life. She was born on April 4, 1927, in Swift, Texas. Her parents, Giles and Susie Cureton, lived and worked on the family farm where ten children were born. Her brothers and sisters were Calvin Cureton, Naomi Burnaman, Hulon Cureton, Gladys Maila, E. L. Cureton, Ola Mae Davis and Maytrait Dempsey that passed February 6, 2025. Two additional children died at childbirth.
She only had one child, Iva Jeanne Sanders, known to most as ‘Jeanne’, married to Johnny Sanders. She spent her entire life showering her daughter with love, kindness and gifts. She did her best to exemplify the role as a mother to be proud of and she certainly succeeded. She began her work career with C. Jim Stewart and Stevenson where she rose to the position of Vice President and Secretary. She retired in 1992 after 38 years of service. During this span of time, she was a member of Executive Secretaries International and traveled extensively with a group of ladies that she had remained friends with for decades. These ladies played bridge and toured the world. They shared Geneva’s love of flowers, her dogs, and travel. They were affectionately known as ‘The Bunch’.
In addition, she was a member of the Eastern Star. She worked tirelessly on service projects and her sister, Ola Mae, was her sidekick and travel companion for many years. They had a lot of fun while helping others.
In her retirement years, she enjoyed her home in Boerne, TX. She and her husband Bill had cows, goats, sheep, and became attached to all the animals. Her grandson, Darren, was the apple of her eye. She bought him golf clubs early so he could play with her. They also did some dove hunting, deer hunting and squirrel hunting. Since he wanted to be close to her, he decided to attend Trinity University in San Antonio, TX. Of course, that meant he had to help cut down trees and build fences which he gladly obliged. They were quite a team, and she gave him a lifetime of memories.
She was very generous to her family. Darren and Ashley have three children, Sebastian, Ashton and Summer. The kids were a constant source of joy to her, and they all loved her very much. They all called her “GG”. The family looks forward to sharing stories and seeing distant family and friends, so please join us if you can.
We rejoice in the promise of eternal life, and that she is now at peace in the arms of our Savior.
