Fishing was one of Donald's favorite pastimes, and he treasured every moment spent with family. He loved red beans & rice, and cooking (especially when it came to his famous rice dressing—always made from scratch with a little extra love). Watching old westerns brought him comfort, and his heart belonged to the Dallas Cowboys. Through it all, what mattered most to him was sharing these simple joys with those he loved.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leola Broussard and Allen Hayes, Sr.; his daughter, Persephone Hayes-Mallory; his brother, Allen Hayes, Jr.; and his Son-in-Law, Ismael Fernandez.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his ex-wife and close friend of 32 years, Bettie Hayes; his son, Donald Hayes, Jr. (Monica); his daughter, Candy Fernandez; his brothers and sisters, Michael Hayes, Sr., Glenn Hayes, Sr., Patricia Deshotel, Henry Hayes, Sr., and Stanley Hayes; his beloved grandchildren, Giani Cascio, Gage Mallory, Haydon Hayes, and Candon Morgan; and his great-grandchild, Slater Cascio. This is in addition to a lot of many beloved first cousins, second cousins, Opelousas, Louisiana family, his sisters-in-law that played such a huge role in his life, nieces and nephews, great-nephews, goddaughters, and godsons.
A light bites & fellowship for Donald will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Forest Park South Funeral Home, 12650 Shadow Creek Parkway, Pearland, TX 77584, followed by a funeral service from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
