Warner G. "Brown" Benson

Visitation is 5:00-8:00pm Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services are 12:00pm Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at New Zion United Pentecostal Church in Philadelphia. Interment will follow in Henry Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, 10:00am-12:00pm at the church.

Mr. Benson was born Friday, March 15, 1935 in Neshoba County, a son of the late Ollie Benson and Johnnieanna Lovern Benson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of First Baptist Church, Fannin. He was a retired house mover and his hobbies included fishing, hunting and gardening. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his great-grandchildren were his pride and joy.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Shirley Marlene Benson of Brandon; daughters, Daphne and husband Daryl Montgomery, Hilda and husband John C. "Jay" White, Jr., Tammy and husband Allan "Al" Kennedy and Diana and husband Cheney Spence all of Brandon; grandchildren, Jay Montgomery, Carl Spence, Anna Young, Johnanna Turner, Angela Diggs, Stephen Kennedy, Beth McKay, Misty White, Lea Denson, Johnna White and Lance Kennedy; great-grandchildren, Glen Denson, Gabe Denson, Harley Montgomery, Maryanna Guy, John Warren McKay, Jack Guy, Oliver diggs, Lennon Young, Gavin Denson, Andrew Booth and Warner Young; sisters, Ruth Holley of Philadelphia and Mary and husband Buddy Glass of Gulf Shores, AL; and brother-in-law, Ben Akins of Philadelphia.
