She was born December 5, 1933, in Neshoba County, Mississippi, a daughter of the late Leslie Elmer McKee and Johnnie L. Chisolm McKee. Marie graduated from East Neshoba High in 1953.
Marie married the love of her life, Edward Rush Neal, on June 1, 1953 and they moved to Pearl in 1955.
Marie attended Pearl United Methodist Church and later the First Baptist church of Pearl.
Her hobbies included word puzzles, camping, sewing, quilting, and she loved talking on the phone. She found peace and comfort reading her Bible daily. She also loved dancing to old fashion country music.
Marie’s family and friends were the spark of her life, and she delighted in cooking scrumptious meals and heavenly desserts for those she loved and cared for. Her favorite times were any she could spend with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild. She was known for her honesty and straight talk-you never had to wonder what she was thinking. And although sometimes sassy, Marie was quite tender hearted. She never forgot a birthday, calling and serenading the recipient with the Birthday Song and sweet wishes for the day.
She was last surviving of seven children: brother, Roy McKee; sister, Kathleen McKee Moore; brother, Leslie McKee; brother, Edward McKee; brother, John D McKee; and brother, George McKee.
