He was born on March 12, 1953 in Jacksonville, Fl. to the late Bill Charles Ragan and Helen Furman Ragan. His father served in the Navy and was wounded in combat in World War II.
Mike grew up in the Jacksonville FL area and had a multitude of friends who always seem to congregate at the family home. In his youth he had numerous hobbies. He was an avid pool player, competing and winning numerous local tournaments. He and his friends built and raced go carts as a neighborhood hobby. Also Mike had a keen interest in United States history which continued throughout his life.
After graduating high school, Mike enlisted in the military. His service further strengthened his sense of patriotism and rightfully so as a proud Vietnam Era Veteran. After being honorably discharged from the United States Army, Mike relocated to the MS area where he met his beloved wife, Frances Darlene Motes.
Upon marriage they resided in her hometown of Collinsville, MS and raised their family. Prior to retiring Mike worked primarily in the trucking industry. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, spending time with family and annual trips to Fl. The last twenty years were spent in the Flowood, MS area, where they were members of the First Baptist Church of Fannin
In addition to his parents, preceding him in death was his daughter Brandi Dearing.
Mike had a keen sense of humor and a larger than life personality, and will be so deeply missed.
