If Russell Avery could be described by one word it would be FAITHFUL. From an early age, he learned the value of loyalty and trust, and Russell’s life was an exemplary illustration of these traits.
Russell was liked and respected by supervisors and coworkers alike throughout his lengthy career in sales. He retired from Sears after 30 years of faithful service and was then employed by Auto Zone and Lowes, from which he retired after more than 20 years.
Russell’s family was his main priority and he loved them with his whole heart. He was a steadfast and true husband, father, and grandfather, and worked hard to provide for his family.
Russell was a longtime member of Eastside Baptist Church where he faithfully attended services. He appreciated his pastor and church family and was a loyal Christian servant to our Lord.
In his free time Russell enjoyed reading, scrapbooking, and watching sports, especially baseball and golf. An avid history buff he collected books and articles about the American Revolution, the South of the 1800’s and his native Vicksburg.
Russell’s legacy of faithfulness to God, family, friends and coworkers will long live in the hearts of all who loved him.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Avery, Sr. and Maude Pritchard Avery; and brother, Stephen G. Avery.
He is survived his beloved wife of 48 years, Winnie Avery; daughter, Melissa Sines and husband Thomas, and Christina Morehead and husband Brian; and grandchildren, Tyler Sines, Joey Sines, Mykela Sines, and Avery Katherine Morehead.
Visitation will be held from 4:00pm until 7:00pm, Tuesday, January 23, 2024, and 10:00am until 11:00am, Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Eastside Baptist Church in Pearl. Funeral services are 11:00am Wednesday at the church with interment to follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
