Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:30am, Friday, February 2, 2024, at Grace Church, 2610 Napoleon Avenue, Pearl.
Peggy was born October 18, 1938, in Noxapater, Mississippi, one of three children born to the late Everett Chambliss Reaves and Ollie Mae Holton Reaves.
Peggy’s life was based around simple but important principles: faith, family, and fidelity. Peggy was true to her Lord, her family, her employer, her friends, and her beliefs. She honored a life lived with integrity and her quiet and steadfast support and influence was a buoy for many over the years.
Peggy and her late husband, Sammy, were longtime members of Flag Chapel Baptist Church in Jackson where they raised their family. A faithful wife and mother Peggy took pride in her family and worked to instill a sense of honor in her children. Family and friends knew that her door was always open. She prioritized family and even in her failing health made it a point to attend birthdays, weddings and all family occasions.
Peggy enjoyed a lengthy career with Dairy Queen, first working at the Capitol Street location and later moving to the Lakeland Drive location. She was admired and respected by supervisors and coworkers alike and she was a loyal team member for more than 30 years.
Her free time was spent with family, especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchild. She also enjoyed reading about and listening to the music of her all-time favorite, Elvis Presley, and she and her husband bowled in a league for several years.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Sammy M. Copeland, Sr.; son, Sammy M. Copeland, Jr.; and brother, Charles Junior Reaves.
She is survived by her daughter Pam Vertucci (Joey); grandchildren, Amanda Copeland, Nicole Vertucci, and Austin Vertucci (Kiley); great-granddaughter, Summerlyn Luthultz; sister, Jamie Roberts (Al); and several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donation to assist with final expenses.
