Lanell, or “Nellie” as she was affectionately known, was born November 2, 1939, in Terry, Mississippi, a daughter of the late Samuel Augustus McDonald and Lola Grace Barron McDonald.
Lanell retired after a lengthy career as an administrative assistant with the Mississippi Department of Transportation. She faithfully attended Grandview Baptist Church in Pearl until her failing health prevented her from doing so. In her free time she enjoyed word games, solitaire, and bingo.
Lanell’s family was always her top priority and she delighted in caring for her husband and children. She loved to cook and especially enjoyed making homemade candy. A talented seamstress, Lanell sewed many clothes for her children while they were in school and often was recruited to create uniforms for her children’s team and club mates, and Lanell was glad to share her talents to help others.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Terry, and sister, Oreadus Walker.
Survivors include daughter, Ann Lincoln and husband Jeff; son, Kevin Terry and wife Taryn; brother, Gerald McDonald; and grandchildren, Kyla, Delta, Poppy, and Elyn Terry, and Amber, Aaron, and Austin Lincoln.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Harrisville.
