Melba was born September 16, 1936, in Leake County, Mississippi, a daughter of the late Shelly Blailock and Hazel Turnage Blailock.
A loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Melba delighted in caring for her family. Throughout her working years she would cook breakfast for her family in the morning, go to work, and then have supper ready for them at 5:00pm. Later in life she enjoyed preparing special treats for her grandchildren and spending time with them.
Melba loved our Lord and serving his people. She taught children’s Sunday School for more than 60 years, sharing the gospel and rocking those sweet babies! Melba was a true prayer warrior and often left sticky notes around her home reminding her of folks she was praying for.
Another way that Melba cared for people was in sending cards. Whether it was a get well wish or words of encouragement, so many people were touched by Melba’s sweet thoughts of them.
When she was able Melba enjoyed walking and shopping and she really loved pictures of family, friends and events.
Even in her later years, Melba blessed so many by praying for them and letting them know she cared.
In addition to her parents, Melba was preceded in death by her husband, David E. Dabbs.
