

Mary Irene Holloarn Preslar, born October 29, 1923 to Eddie T. and Mamie Irene Holloarn in Hazlehurst, Mississippi. She was the oldest of 5 children. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Cecilia, and brothers James and Raymond Holloarn.
Irene graduated from Jackson Commercial College in 1942 and moved Washington, D.C. After working for 1 year in Washington she returned to Mississippi where Irene worked for most of her career with the Internal Revenue Service, retiring after almost 34 years of service.
She joined Asbury Congregational Methodist Church on June 1, 1970. She was active in and loved her church, serving as treasurer from 1984 until illness made it impossible for her to continue in that position. In addition, she served as President of the Mississippi chapter of the WMU from 1987 to 2003.
Irene was a member of the Hinds County Extension Homemakers association and participated in many activities with that organization, in addition to serving as treasurer, again until illness prevented her from working in that capacity.
In her retirement, she enjoyed sewing, crafting and visiting with her grand-children and great grand-children. Irene also visited nursing homes in the Jackson area and led craft projects for the residents.
She is survived by her sister, Martha Holloarn Kelsey; children, son, Marvin S. Preslar, Jr. (Marilyn), daughter, Margaret Ann Preslar; grand-children, Amanda Preslar, Casey Preslar Urwin (Marty), Shelly Preslar Paige (Dustin); great grandchildren, Anabelle Paige, Caroline Paige, Scarlett Paige, Iyla Urwin and Mia Urwin; nieces, Wanda Holloarn Butler and Margie Holloarn Santos, and nephew, Ray Holloarn. She also leaves a host of extended family and loving friends.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
