She was received into paradise on Sunday, March 2, 2014 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Pearl where she lived with her granddaughter, Christina Overton, and her family. She was a faithful communicant of St. Jude Catholic Church.
Lucy was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier Academy in Vicksburg. She met her future husband of fifty years, the late Thomas N. Sutterfield, while he was serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. After marrying, they settled in Yazoo City where they raised their four children. She retired from Mississippi Chemical Corporation where she worked in the accounting department.
She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Alice, Mabel Louise, Ruth Cecelia, Margaret Anne and infant Mabel Louise; brothers, William Oliver, Jr., Benjamin James, Thomas Joseph and Daniel Xavier; and sons, Larry Thomas and Charles Ray.
She is survived by son, Garry James Sutterfield (Brenda); daughter, Linda Ann Stevens (Andy); grandchildren, Brian Sutterfield (Cindy), Christina Overton (David), Wes Sutterfield (Kim), Hanna Garrett (Wes), Thomas Sutterfield (Rachelle), Suzanne Johnson (Rob), Emily Sutterfield, Allison Sutterfield and Rachel Rollins (Marc); and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 5:00-7:30pm, Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl followed by Rosary Services at 7:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am, Thursday, March 6, 2014 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 399 Barrow St., Pearl. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. Graveside services are 2:30pm in Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City.
