Mr. Ward and his six younger sisters lived in Jackson and Flora growing up. He graduated from Tri-County and studied at the University of Southern Mississippi. Mr. Ward was one of the top salesman at Jim Walter Homes until his retirement.
Mr. Ward loved fishing and if given the chance, “more fishing”! His favorite fishing buddy was his dog Prissy who preceded him in death. He loved living on the lake after his retirement. Ole Miss and the New Orleans Saints were his favorite teams and football was his favorite sport. He played little league baseball growing up and was a sci-fi fan throughout his life.
Mr. Ward was kind hearted and helped many over the years – strangers as well as friends and family. He was a very likeable person. He will be remembered as a gentle, soft-spoken, kind man.
The joy and love of his life were his two daughters, Angela and Rachel. He never missed one of their events. He was so proud to dance with Angela at her junior miss pageant and walk his daughter Rachel down the aisle. He loved them dearly.
He loved his sisters dearly Terry, Vicki, Missie, Diane, Robin, and Jackie.
John loved and adored his mother and was always so very proud of her.
Mr. Ward is predeceased by his father, Alger Ward and his sister, Vicki Sue Stingley.
Those left to mourn, miss, and cherish his memory are his wife of 46 years and 3 days, Brenda who will miss him every day; his daughters, Angela and Rachel; his mother, Mildred Ward; his siblings, Terry (Keith), Robin (Joe), Diane (Len), Missie (Mark), and Jackie; a brother-in-law, Barry; and a host of nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Friday, September 8, 2023 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. The funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 9, 2023 in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Beth Feisel officiating. Following the service, burial will take place at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl.
