John "Russ" Neely Jr.

Visitation is 2:00-5:00pm today at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services are 1:00pm Monday, April 2, 2012 in the funeral home chapel. Graveside services will follow at 3:30pm in Kennedy Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Magee.

Mr. Neely was a member of Briarhill Baptist Church, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in WWII and the Korean War. He was employed for several years with Knox Glass and retired from Challengers Electric after many years of dedicated service. A true outdoorsman, his hobbies included gardening, yard work and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mertis Craft Neely; parents, Henry and Ella Neely; brothers, Allen and Chris Neely; sister, Marie Penfield; in-laws, Sam and Maxie Craft; and several members of the Craft family.

Survivors include daughter, Betty Eaton and husband Andy; grandson, Dillon Eaton; several nieces, nephews and Craft family members.
