Visitation will be 1:00-3:00pm, Monday, December 16, 2019, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Memorial services will follow at 3:00pm in the funeral home chapel.
John was born March 30, 1931, in Louisiana, a son of the late Gus Tabor and Edna Cooper Tabor. Following high school and two years of college, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served our country during the Korean War. Following his service with the Air Force John attended the University of Southern Mississippi where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree.
John served as a pilot with the Air National Guard for more than 30 years prior to his retirement in 1991.
John and his family attended McLaurin Heights Baptist Church for many years where he was a deacon and sang in the church choir. He and wife later attended Southside Baptist Church in Jackson and in more recent years were members of Crossgates Baptist Church in Brandon.
John’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, and golf. He was most passionate about his family and his love was unwavering for his beloved wife, children, and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John will best be remembered for his gregarious personality. He loved to make others laugh and was a true friend.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Nan Lane Tabor; sons, Wes C. Tabor and wife Betsy, and Ty R. Tabor; daughter, Tia Tabor; grandchildren, John Kyle Tabor, Geneva Lynn “Ginny” Tabor, and Josh Blair; and great-grandchildren, John Davis Tabor, Caroline Blake Tabor, Clive Owen Blair, Eleanor Grace Blair, Ashton Blair, and Avery Blair.
Memorials may be made to Crossgates Baptist Church in Brandon.
