Jimmie Sue was born July 2, 1932, in Choctaw County, Mississippi, one of 14 children born to the late Hillard E. Green and Susie Dean Green.
She joined First Baptist Church of Richland in 1964 and was a long-time Sunday school teacher for the children’s class and for vacation Bible school. Jimmie Sue enjoyed a lengthy career with General Electric where she served in packaging inspection.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Jimmie Sue lovingly provided for her family throughout her lifetime. Her favorite times were spent with her family and she delighted in having them gather around the table for her home cooking.
She took pride in her home and yard and spent many hours tending to her veggie and flower gardens. Jimmie Sue enjoyed traveling, especially church and family trips, and trips with Woodmen of the World. She spent her free time sewing, embroidering, working word puzzles, and creating artistic floral designs in adult coloring books.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Simpson; sons, Thomas L. Simpson, and Allen Keith Simpson; and all of her siblings.
Survivors include daughter, Susan Hernbloom and husband Ken; son, Ken Simpson, and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Ryan Simpson, and Tonya Bairfield and husband Dustin; and great-grandchildren, Braden Bairfield, Kenslie Bairfield, and Ava Kate Bairfield.
Visitation will be held from 4:00pm until 7:00pm, Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services are 10:00am, Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the funeral home with graveside services to follow at 2:00pm in the New Haven Cemetery in Weir, Mississippi.
