James Michael Gaines

A Gathering for Family and Friends to honor and remember his life will be held from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, Saturday, October 5, 2019, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl.

Mr. Gaines was born September 9, 1950, in Newton, Mississippi, a son of the late Jaffa Brown Gaines, Jr. and Margaret Weir Gaines.

Mr. Gaines was a trained and skilled plumber. He retired from the University of Mississippi Medical Center after more than 15 years of service, and was still actively employed as a private contract plumber until his passing.

Mr. Gaines was a true outdoorsman and life-long fisherman. An avid Ole Miss fan, he faithfully attended as many football and baseball games as time would permit.

Of all life’s pleasures he enjoyed, his favorite times were simple: being with his grandchildren. They were his pride and joy, and all of his heart. Whatever they wanted to do, he wanted to do. The job he loved most- “Papa G”.

He is survived by his son, Michael Gaines and wife Misty; grandchildren, Anna-Maria Gaines, Bretton Gaines, and Addy Rose Gaines; sisters, Kay Duckworth and Gaye Crosby; niece, Cassie Crosby; and great-niece, Matty Duckworth.
