Mrs. Kersh was born in Hinds County, Mississippi on October 1, 1929, to the late Henry Harris Ivy and Carrie Kitchens Ivy. Mrs. Kersh is also predeceased by her late husbands Mr. Charles Bates and Mr. Everett "E.M." Kersh, her son Jerry Bates and several siblings.
Mrs. Kersh was a member of Paul Truitt Baptist Church and was active in the Dorcus Sunday School class until she went to live in the assisted living. She also loved her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved fishing, gardening, and reading western and romance novels. Mrs. Kersh was a hairdresser by trade and owned and operated The Beauty Bar.
Mrs. Kersh leaves behind her sons, Raymond Bates (Sharon), Joe Bates (Darlene), brother Jack Ivy, Special Niece Theresa Zaragoza, 5 Grandchildren, and 10 Great-Grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Paul Truitt Baptist Church, 3705 Old Brandon Rd, Pearl, MS 39208. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Paul Truitt Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS.
