Hattie was born on December 18, 1932, in Taylorsville, MS, to the late Lenon Elliot Parker and Oddie Buckley Parker. She was the fifth of eight siblings, and the last surviving child.
Hattie was married to Lelon Ray Sherman, also from Taylorsville, MS. They had three children and became a Pearl residence in 1957.
Hattie was a dedicated member of McLaurin Heights United Methodist Church and a member of the Eastern Star. Hattie’s strong faith was practiced by using the “Golden Rule.” Not only did she love and
trust in our Lord, but she unselfishly went far and beyond doing for others, seeking nothing in return. She was loved by so many and often referred to the “glue that held it all together”.
Hattie became a beautician in 1964, after graduating from Cox’s School of Cosmetology. Her career loyally serviced her dedicated customers for 56 years.
Hattie had many talents and hobbies. Gardening was her greatest passion. Throughout the years, she enjoyed crafting with sewing, wood work, ceramics, canvas painting, crocheting, and cake decorating. She successfully mastered any project that prompted her challenge.
She is preceded in death by her late husband, Lelon Ray Sherman, her son Rickey Lelon Sherman, her parents Lenon Elliot Parker, and Oddie Buckley Parker, her siblings, J.W.Alex Parker, Joe Ike Parker, Myrtle Parker Gambrell, Myrtis Parker Sherman, William H.
