Faye was born on March 11, 1928, in Tylertown, one of six children born to the late Clarence Bowman and Ida Spence Bowman.
Faye’s life was one willingly dedicated to serving others. As a young woman while employed with Haspel’s in Tylertown, Faye found herself making WWII parachutes when the factory converted from creating men’s suits. Each of her stitches was sewn with pride as her contribution to the war effort while her husband was fighting overseas. That same sense of loyalty to customer and employer served her well throughout careers in retail sales. Faye was passionate about ceramics and created beautiful detailed pieces which were sought after by many. Her love and creativity were evident in each piece.
Faye’s favorite times were spent with family and friends. She delighted in cooking and baking for church events and family gatherings. A devoted Christian, she was a longtime member of Pearl Baptist Church (First Baptist Pearl) and later of Trinity Baptist Church in Florence. Her favorite book was the Holy Bible, which she read faithfully.
In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Ford Henry Rushing, and brothers John Bowman and Vernon Bowman.
Survivors include son, Steve Rushing and wife Sandra; daughters, Dianne Sullivan and husband Ronnie and Beverly Dunbar Stone and husband Tim; brother, Daniel Bowman; sisters, Glyn Beard and Lexie McElveen; grandchildren, Todd Rushing and wife Frances, Tim Rushing and wife Marcy, John Rushing and wife Casey, Rhonda Spina and husband Eric, Ashley Sullivan and wife Kristin, Candice Hinson and husband Clif, Ryan Dunbar and wife Kaitlyn, Allison Dunbar, Emma Stone, and Ella Stone; and great-grandchildren, Troy, Macy, Abbie, Ellie, Kent, Reagan, Kyle, Halie, Kylie, Trinity, D’Angelo, Liam, Grayson, Cameron, and Cole.
