Dot was born November 1, 1934, in Simpson County, Mississippi to J.D. and Hettie Marie Brown. She was a homemaker and an excellent seamstress and tailor. Her lifestyle portrayed that of a strong, Christian woman who was filled with the fruit of the Holy Spirit: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith.
Dot is preceded in death by her parents, J.D. and Hettie Brown; her husband of fifty-five years, J.M. Butler; and her grandson, Brian Scott McGee.
Survivors include her daughter, Diane McGee; sons, James M. Butler and Jeff Butler (Debbie); sisters, Annette Bridges (Jerry W.), and Jerrie Sanford (Jerry C.); five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 9:00am until 10:00am, Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services will follow at 10:00am in the funeral home chapel with interment in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
Memorial may be given to First Baptist church, Richland, Mississippi.
