Visitation will be held from 9:00am until 10:00am on Friday, August 6, 2021 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. The funeral service will follow at 10:00am in the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place at Sinai Cemetery in Florence.
He was born June 8, 1934, in Rankin County, Mississippi, a son of the late Willis Gentry Long and Mildred Thomas Long. Donald was a graduate of Florence High School and Mississippi State University. He made his career as a Civil Engineer. Don, as he preferred to be called, enjoyed outdoor activities: hunting, fishing, camping, boating, and golfing. Don also enjoyed taking road trips and discovering out of the way restaurants.
Don loved his family and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Bobbie Jean Wiles, for 62 years until they were separated by her death on August 30, 2018.
Don was a member of Grandview Baptist Church in Pearl. He was a God-fearing man who enjoyed talking about his savior Jesus Christ.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by brother, Carrol Long; sister, Mildred Henshaw; and nephew, Kavanaugh Thomas.
He is survived by his son, Drew Long (Rachel); grandchildren, Michelle Long, Heather Haase (Coltyn and Kadyn), Andrew Long (Cody and Lilah Joy), Donald Long, and Frances Long; nieces, Pat Ard, Linda Byrd, Collie Howard, Theresa Love (Robert), and Heather Sheppard; and nephews, Donald W. Long, and Joel Sims.
