She was born September 25, 1931, a daughter of the late Gilbert Decker, Sr. and Pauline Johnson Decker.
Barbara was a member of Pearson Baptist Church and in recent years attended McLaurin Heights Baptist Church. She retired from Pearl High School after several years of dedicated service in the food service department.
Barbara was an avid fan of crossword puzzles, often completing several newspaper puzzles each day. Over the years she completed several personal word reference books and also enjoyed word search puzzles.
Barbara’s favorite times were spent with her family, especially her precious grandchildren. She was just as quick to jump on the fair rides as her grandkids, and this continued well into her 70’s. Whether Christmas shopping or simply playing cards together, Barbara was most happy when her family was together.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Morgan Pierce.
Survivors include son David Allen (Jean); daughter, Anita Smith (William); sister, Marion Ruby; brothers, James Decker, and Gilbert Decker, Jr.; grandchildren, Kevin Allen, Jeremy Allen, Tracy Waite, Morgan Donald, Billy Smith, Micheal Smith, Robert Smith, and Cruise Smith; and great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 12:00pm until 2:00pm, Wednesday, August 26, 2020, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel with interment in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
