Wayne was born May 18, 1958, in Hinds County, Mississippi, a son of the late Floyd Berry and Shirley Goodnight Berry. He was a dedicated employee of Merit Health Central in Jackson for more than 30 years. Wayne’s strong work ethic and commitment to purpose made him a beloved and valued team member who will be missed by all who were privileged to work with him.
In his free time Wayne enjoyed watching racing and sports, and he was a long-time youth baseball coach. A gifted carpenter, Wayne spent many hours crafting cabinetry and various woodworking projects.
With Wayne’s fastidious nature he was drawn to the world of collecting and he fast became a die-hard “picker”. He and his wife, Teresa, spent many weekends scouring flea markets and estate sales for just the right item. Wayne was up for buying, selling, or trading- he just wanted in. His love for collecting extended to automobiles and motorcycles, for which he had a vast and varied interest.
Wayne had an infectious zest for life and all it offered, his legacy to all who loved him and will miss him.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Berry, and granddaughter, Maci Grace Massey.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Teresa Berry; sons, Anthony Berry and wife Ashley, and Thomas Mitchell and wife Rachel; daughter, Crystal Massey and husband Colter; brother, Mark Berry; sisters, Sherry Neese, and Ruthie Anderson; grandchildren, Cayden Berry, Paige Berry, Tanner Mitchell, Hannah Mitchell, and Laney Massey; and his feline companions, Tico and Rico.
A Celebration of Remembrance will be held from 2:00pm until 4:00pm, Sunday, March 14, 2021, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl.
