Virginia was born to the late Joel Olds Turner and Nell Dean Turner on February 15, 1936 along with her two sisters, Phyllis Turner Smith and Patricia Turner West. The girls made history as the first sets of triplets to be born at Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta, GA.
Virginia grew up in East Point, GA living with her family. She attended special classes to graduate early from school and went to work at the DeKalb Cerebral Palsy Workshop where she learned how to make household items to sell to support the workshop’s programs. She travelled with her parents and her sisters to many places and enjoyed many adventures. When her folks died, she lived with her sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Rudy Smith, in Jackson, TN. When they passed, she moved to an assisted living apartment at Morningside of Jackson where the staff took good care of her. In 2019, she moved to Texas to live with her niece and nephew, Cindy (West) and Louis Leinweber, in Harper TX. She joined the Harper United Methodist Church and participated on the worship team as a drummer. She lived in Harper until her passing.
She loved going to the beach, shopping, cats, her Chihuahua-Midgie, her family members, her church family especially Jeannie and Ed, getting her hair done, playing her djembe, eating at Cracker Barrel, and margaritas on her birthday!!
She leaves behind close, dear friends, Kevin Kemp of Jackson, TN and Marion Langley of Douglasville, GA. She leaves also many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephews; and friends in both Tennessee and Texas.
There will be a graveside service at Westview Cemetery in West End Atlanta, GA, where she will be laid to rest next to her parents and her Aunt Hazel Dean. It will be Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 10:00 am, section 60 plot number 208 space 2.
