Virginia, or Ginny, as she preferred to be called, was born on September 14, 1945, to Alexander and Helen Meckley. She received her associate degree in business from Robert Morris College in 1965, worked in a medical office for a year, happily transitioning to the role of homemaker after that. On May 15, 1965, she married John Lukehart. They raised two daughters, Melissa and Bethany.
Ginny was a strong and independent-minded woman who was creative and inventive. When she first arrived in Peachtree City, she was active as a Girl Scout troop leader for 2 troops, even taking a Junior troop to the Juliette Gordon Low house in Savannah, GA. Later, her youngest daughter’s profession – teaching elementary music – gave Ginny the ideal outlet for creativity and craftiness, as she took an active interest in not only lesson planning but also in the performances which were consistently well-attended. Ginny loved holidays, especially Christmas, Halloween, and birthdays. Every detail was always perfect, from the menus to the timelines of the actual events. In fact, to say that Ginny was detail-oriented is to say that water is wet. She loved summers best – warm days with afternoons spent at the pool, with popsicles afterwards.
Ginny was preceded in death by her father, Alex, and her mother, Helen. She is survived by her husband, John, her two children, Melissa, and Bethany, her grandson, Steven, and a beloved Yorkshire terrier, Aria.
