Born on January 2, 1956, in Jackson, Mississippi, Tim lived a life full of service, dedication, and generosity. After graduating from Baylor University in 1979, he proudly served his country as a commander in the United States Navy, where he distinguished himself as a skilled naval aviator. During this time, Tim flew the anti-submarine warfare P-3B while on deployment to Japan, the Philippines, and the Indian Ocean. Tim’s love for flight also carried him into a second career as a Delta Air Lines captain, where he flew a number of commercial airline jets, including the Lockheed L-1011 and Boeing 767. For many years, he navigated the skies with precision and poise.
When not soaring above the clouds, Tim found joy and fulfillment at his home on the lake, which became the heart of his family life. An avid water sports enthusiast from childhood, he spent countless hours introducing his children and grandchildren to the thrill of tubing, knee boarding, waterskiing and wakeboarding, creating cherished memories that will last for generations.
Following his retirement, Tim turned his attention to giving back, dedicating his time and energy to the Midwest Food Bank. His unwavering commitment to helping others reflected his deep belief in service and philanthropy, a hallmark of his character. He was always willing to lend a hand to his family, friends, and community. Tim’s loyalty, selflessness, and dedication left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Tim is survived by his caring wife, Cathy; his children, Jonathan Therrell, Amanda Albert, Ashley Therrell, Christopher Therrell and Jennifer Mikolyski; and his adored grandchildren. He will also be remembered by a host of extended family members, including his three brothers, Brad Therrell, Steve Therrell and Jimmy Therrell who cherished his warmth, humor, and steady presence.
As a pilot, a patriot, and a patriarch, Tim lived a life marked by dedication to his family, community, and country. He leaves behind a lifetime of faithfulness, service, and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to the Midwest Food Bank, continuing his legacy of helping others.
