Timothy Charles Daly, age 59, of Peachtree City, GA passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. He was born to Mary Alice Fountain Daly and the late Charles Joseph Daly on January 8, 1964 in Cleveland, OH.
Tim graduated from Gabriel Richard High School in Michigan and went on to get his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Michigan. He began his Newspaper career as a Staff Writer @ The Daily Sun, in Warner Robins, GA 4/1991-4/1993, then as News Editor @ The Griffin Daily News, 4/1993-5/2001 in Griffin, GA, followed by Copy Editor @ News Daily, in Jonesboro, GA, 5/2001-5/2005 and finally as the Managing Editor @ The Griffin Daily News, 7/2005-11/2021; where he was with them for a total of 24 years.
He was an active member of the USTA and was an avid tennis player. At one time, he was state ranked, regionally ranked and nationally ranked in tennis for his skill level and age groups. Played in many tournaments and leagues over the years. He once played former professional tennis player Martin Barba in a tournament in Savannah. He lost the match but was able to win one game off Barba. He loved tennis and he was very knowledgeable about tennis – both as a player and as a fan and enjoyed watching tennis as much as he did playing -- especially the major tournaments. He was an avid runner and ran in the Peachtree Road Race once in the early 2000s. He was also an avid hiker and he loved the hiking trips that he took with his mom and dad. His friends said that he was really fond of Chick-fil-A, a small cheese pizza from Papa John’s, and bottle of Coca-Cola every day. He also enjoyed time with his family's two cats. He was a big music fan of Fleetwood Mac, Billy Joel, and Stevie Nicks.
He is survived by his mother, Mary.
The family ask that donations be made in his honor to Emory University Hospital.
