Martha Mae (Gossett) Guest

Mrs. Martha Mae Guest, 99, of Atlanta, GA passed away February 6, 2023. She was born on August 24, 1923 in Greenville, SC to the late John Pinckney Gossett and Mae Evelyn Gresham Gossett. Mrs. Guest was a 1940 graduate of Russell High School in East Point, GA. She was Administrative Assistant at AT&T in the Hurt Building for 17 years. At age 60, Mrs. Guest became a School Crossing Guard for Atlanta Public Schools until she was 85. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Milton Guest; and her brother, John Pinckney Gossett, Jr.

Mrs. Guest was a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ and served faithfully at Cleveland Avenue Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of College Park, The Rock Baptist Church, and most recently at Heatherwood Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, singing, watching old movies, and one of her most favorite things was babysitting children from her church so the parents could have “date nights”. She never met a stranger.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her sons, Barry and his children, Alayna, Brannen, and Ethan; Rusty Guest, his wife, Melissa, and their children, Jordan, Whitney, and Carson; daughter, Sherry Helms, her husband, Larry, and their children, Mindy (Cole) Jennette, Christy (Camilo) Araujo, Jenny (Aaron) Parkison, and Zach Helms; and her great-grandchildren, Skyler, Leeland, and Selah Jennette.

The family will receive friends from 11:00am until 12:00pm on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at the Christian City Welcome Center, 7345 Red Oak Road, Union City, GA 30291 with a Funeral Service in the chapel at noon. Pastors Don Bazal and Turk Holt will officiate. Interment will be at 2:00pm at College Park Cemetery.

We will all meet at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Precup Personal Care Home, 4625 Matthews Park Drive, Snellville, GA 30039 who lovingly cared for Mrs. Guest the last 4 years.
