It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Magaly Requeny-Martinez. While mom had not been in the best of health for some time, she battled for three long weeks in the hospital with multiple organ failures and numerous health issues before going home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 22, 2021 at the age of 78.
Magaly was born in Havana, (Spanish) Habana, Cuba on November 6, 1942. She was known as “Grandma Cupcake” by many friends and family as she would be the first to volunteer to bake delicious cupcakes for most any occasion. She was also a devout Christian woman who loved crafts, especially making custom rosaries. Magaly crafted her rosaries for friends, family, and even strangers. She found comfort in sharing her love and faith by sending these rosaries all around the country. Stepping in her home, it would be immediately evident of her strong faith and devotion to Christianity. Magaly will be fondly remembered as she blessed so many lives with her love and compassion.
Magaly was an amazing, loving wife to her late husband, Pedro M. Martinez who passed away in 2011.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Susanna and Joel, Dennisse and Robert. Magaly was known as “Baba Molly” to her surviving grandchildren who include: Bianca and Ryan, Chris, Anthony and Allyson, Nick and Abigail; and her great-grandchildren, Ava, Evie, and Aspen.
Services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Tyrone, GA with Father Kevin Hargaden officiating.
Arrangement made under the direction of Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home & Crematory in Peachtree City, GA.
