John Clardy Watkins III

Sgt. Major John C. Watkins III, 79, of Tyrone, GA passed away on August 24, 2022. He was born in Henderson, NC on January 27, 1943 to the late John C. Watkins Jr and Emily Ranes Watkins. He attended the Sergeants’ Major Academy in El Paso, TX and attained his Master's in Business Administration from the University of Maryland. He served in the US Army for 34 years. He married Doris Gibson in 1965.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris Watkins; daughters, Michelle Carter, Kimberly Cetrangelo, and Nicole Watkins; grandchildren, Christina Carter, Stefani Carrillo, Charles Carter, Hailee Watkins, Jayden McKinley, Isabella Cetrangelo, and Samantha Cetrangelo; great-grandchildren, Aubriana Carrillo, Jaxson Johnson, Kaine Carrillo, Alexia Carrillo, Maggie Carrillo, Cecelia Carter, Lincoln McLin, and Sophia Carter; and his brother, William D. Watkins.

Celebration of Life Services will be held in the Rose Room at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home & Crematory on September 24, 2022 at 11:00am with military honors.
