

Jennie Mae was a Member of the Eastern Star of Orlando, FL and was a longtime member of Friendship Baptist Church in Chattahoochee Hills, GA. She loved to crochet and making afghans and quilts for all of her family members. Jennie Mae visited Facebook on a daily basis. She kept a sharp mind by obsessively playing games and puzzles. She often bragged she was the best Sudoku player and she did, in fact, play at an expert level.
Jennie Mae is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 53 years, Erastus (Red) Royce Olvey; brothers, Ralph Johnston, Edward Johnston, and Richard Johnston; sisters, Bernice Johnston Hanes and Floy Johnston Colyer; sons, Edward Royce Olvey and Richard Van Olvey; grandson, Clayton Royce Olvey; and granddaughter, Sherry Lynn Olvey.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Olvey of Gay, GA; sons, Michael Olvey, Sr. of Statesboro, GA and Doug Olvey (Cindy) of Longwood, FL; sister-in-law, Iris Johnston of Fayetteville, GA; grandchildren; Steve Olvey, Michael Olvey, Jr. (Marie); Brad Olvey (Amy), Vance Olvey (Betsy), Amanda Olvey, Jason Olvey (Whitney), Joe Olvey, Stephanie Olvey Radlick (Brian), and Kimberly Olvey Branscome (Daniel); great-grandchildren, Addie, Harrison, Isabel, Ivey, Redmen, Kayden, Ethan, Taylor, Josie Jane, Samantha, Jack, Amber Olvey Atkins (Jesse), Brooks, Sadie, Claire, and Dean; great-great-grandson, Mason; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved Bischon Frise, Benson, who misses her very much.
Funeral services will be held at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home in Peachtree City, GA, on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 12:00pm, with Dr. Reed Buckelew officiating. The visitation will be from 10:00am-12:00pm. Burial will follow services at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, 6090 Cochran Mill Road, Chattahoochee Hills, GA 30268.
