Deloris June Webb McKnight, 93, of Ashland, KY gently slipped into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 5, 2023 in Peachtree City, GA where she lived for the past seven years. June is now rejoicing before the Lord, absent from the body but present with the Lord! Through the loving memories and grief her family celebrates a life well lived for Christ’s sake. June never lost her sense of humor and remained a kind and caring friend to everyone around her until her last breath.
June was born October 13, 1929 in Webbville, KY, the daughter of the late William (Bill) and Ruby Smith Webb. She had two sisters, Mildred Adkins and Isabelle Metzler, who preceded her in death; along with her first husband, John N. Frisby; her son, J. Neal Frisby Jr.; and her husband, Robert B. McKnight. She is survived by her son, William (Bill) K. Frisby; her daughter-in-law, Lisa Charles Frisby; three grandchildren, Kate Compton Vogel, Litia Frisby Jones, and William Hudson Frisby; and five precious great-grandchildren.
June’s life was filled with tremendous love, joy, and laughter, along with its share of heartache, none more so than the loss of her son, J. Neal Frisby Jr., at the age of 29. No matter what happened in her life, through all the highs and lows she never lost her love of family and friends, sense of humor, kindness, and grace. She was the most amazing earthly example of our Heavenly Father’s unconditional love and acceptance. From her example we knew the Father’s heart!
Her early years were spend between Webbville and Ashland, KY where she graduated from Ashland High School and the University of Kentucky’s extension campus with an Associate Degree in Education. She raised two boys while she and her first husband, John N. Frisby, founded, built, and managed Breezeland Swim and Tennis Club and multiple other local businesses. June was an exceptional businesswoman and the backbone of the business’ administration, managing several departments and a host of team members. She was the warm and welcoming personality of Breezeland. June had a tremendous impact on a multitude of Ashland area teenagers as they received their first positive work experience at Breezeland.
Later, June was happily married to Robert B. McKnight. Together they founded and operated McKnight Motor Sales in Flatwoods, KY for nearly 30 years, after Bob’s retirement from CSX Railroad. They faithfully attended Rose Hill Baptist Church in Ashland, KY where June led the church’s Women’s Missionary Union (WMU) Ministry for many years.
A memorial service will be held for June W. McKnight at 2pm on Monday, May 22, 2023 at the Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum in Ashland, KY.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donation be sent to Rose Hill Baptist Church, 1001 Winslow Rd, Ashland, KY 41102 for their Missions Ministry.
