Anthony William (Billy) Parker Sr., died on December 7, 2022 at the age of 97. He was born in Sumter County, GA on May 9, 1925 to the late Hawkins Alexander, Sr. and Eddie Lou Parker. He was the third of seven children.
Billy grew up in Sumter County and graduated from Plains High School. He married Pearl Christine Brock on March 1945. He enlisted in the Army in April 1946 and served in Korea from 1946 until his honorable discharge on September 23, 1947. He never met a stranger and told some of the most engaging stories you could ever hear about his long life in the South. He had an abiding love of military history and was an avid reader until the very end. He will be missed.
Billy joins in death his beloved wife, Pearl Christine Brock Parker; his daughter, Deborah Sue Parker; his daughter-in-law, Glenda Sepulvada Parker; his parents; his sisters, Ella Elizabeth Parker Downer and Thelma Doris Parker Rozycke; his brothers, Hawkins (Hap) Alexander Parker, Jr., James Clinton Parker, and Maurice Parker.
Billy leaves behind his brother, Earl Stanley Parker (Joyce Parker); his daughters, Christy Jean Parker Jaleel (Mohammed Abdul Jaleel) and Bonnie June Parker Meaders; his son, Anthony William Parker, Jr; his grandchildren, Dr. Rana M. Jaleel (Ross A. Peabody), Ryan Imran Jaleel, Dr. D. Robin Jaleel (Peter Lim), Melissa Sue Parker, Anthony William Parker III (Claudia Parker), Timothy Dustin Park (Catherine Park), Eric Brandon Park, and Brock Cameron Park; his great-grandchildren, Hazel Seraphine Jaleel, Owen Samuel Park, Hunter Landon Park, Skyler Luvena Park, Ella Christian Parker, and Kiara Maia Parker; his brother-in-law, Leo Rozycke; and many nieces and nephews.
Inurnment service will be at 12:00pm on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at the Andersonville National Cemetery with Military Honors.
