Alma Rogers died Monday evening, March 18, 2013. She was 93 years old. Ms Rogers was born in Atlanta, graduated with honors from the old Fulton High School, and lived most of her life in East Point, GA. She was a member of Southwest Christian Church of East Point.
Hired as a bookkeeper in 1941 by Fulton National Bank of Atlanta, Miss Rogers spent her entire career there, rising through the ranks to become one of the bank’s first women officers in 1976. She retired from the bank (then known as Bank of the South) as an Assistant Vice President in 1981. Ms Rogers was active in several professional organizations, including the National Association of Bank Women, and was the first woman president of the Atlanta Chapter of the Bank Administration Institute. Ms Rogers was also proud of her volunteer service with the American Red Cross during World War II.
Alma Rogers was a gifted and avid gardener, an accomplished ballroom dancer, and an adventurous traveler, taking the first of several trips to Europe in 1958. She also traveled throughout the United States, as well as Southeast Asia, New Zealand and Australia.
Miss Rogers was preceded in death by her sister, Augusta Rogers Mann, and her brother, Francis Rogers. She is survived by her nieces, Donna Mann Wyatt of Peachtree City, GA, and Debra Rogers Paradice of Marietta, GA, and her nephew, Wayne Rogers of North Augusta, SC, plus numerous grandnieces, grandnephews and Godchildren.
A memorial service to honor her life and memory will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2013, 11:00 a.m., at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home in Peachtree City, GA.
