Roy Beal Hood, Jr., 69, of Vale, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016 at home. A viewing will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, Aug. 1st at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 2nd at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery, Vale. Roy was born July 30, 1946 to Roy and Ilene Hood of Ontario, OR. Roy grew up in California, following the harvest between Los Banos and Arvin. In 1969 he was deployed to Vietnam where he was in the Army 101st Airborne. On Mother’s Day, May 11, 1969 at Hamburger Hill #997, he was wounded. After being honorably discharged from the Army he returned to Vale, where after several years he landed a job with NACA, where he worked the last 20 years of his truck driving career.
Although Roy was a homebody, he did enjoy playing cards with his wife, Carol’s, parents, camping, boating and family gatherings.
Roy and Carol were married on March 3, 2007 where he inherited two step children and 6 more grandkids, bringing the total to 18.
Roy is survived by his wife Carol; his children Tony, Tracy and Roy Hood III “Thumper”; one brother Gary (Barbara); two sisters Bea (Mike) and Betty (Hank); 18 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, father, mother of his children, and sister, Dianna.
Roy will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
