Joan Pearl Ledington, age 70 of Ontario, formally of Payette passed away Sunday May 14, 2017 at Dorian Place Assisted Living. Funeral services will be held at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Ontario, Oregon on Monday, May 22 at 11:00 am. A luncheon will be held at the church following the service. Graveside services will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Payette at 1:30 pm. Condolences may be made to Joan’s family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com. Joan was born in Caldwell, Idaho on October 22, 1946 to Chester Hoyt and Gertrude Fleming Hoyt. Joan grew up in Boise and attended Borah High School and later received her GED.
Joan married Larry Kenworthy and they had four boys; Daniel, Charles, Robert, and Matt. Joan and Larry were later divorced. Joan married Daniel Ledington of Payette on September 11, 1981. Dan and Joan finished raising the boys together and have helped many family members over the years. Dan and Joan celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary last year. Joan worked as a nurse’s aide at Casa Loma Convalescent Center for 25 years. Joan loved doing puzzles and helping other people. She was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Ontario.
Joan is survived by her husband Daniel Ledington; sons Daniel Kenworthy of Ontario, Robert Kenworthy (Kelly) of Salem, Oregon, and Matt (Shamoah) of Caldwell. Joan is also survived by sisters Janna Harkins (Walt) of Wilder, and Kerry Poppaw (Doug); and brothers Sam Hoyt (Sugar), Rocky Hoyt (Vicky), and Alan Hoyt. Joan is also survived by eight grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, sister Jean Crawford, and her son Charles Kenworthy.
