Janet was born Aug. 9, 1954, in Ontario, OR, the daughter of Richard and Joann Strawn. She grew up in Fruitland, and attended schools there. She was a member of the class of 1972.
She held several different jobs in Ontario and in 1974 she gave birth to her only child, a daughter, Fawn Mihcale. In 1977 she married Fawn’s father, Terry Fritts, and after a brief marriage, they divorced. Janet then went to work as a waitress at the Cheyenne Social Club in Ontario where she worked for several years.
In 1984, Janet moved to Boise, and she lived and worked there for many years until moving back to Ontario in 2000. Janet had a green thumb, and could grow the most gorgeous houseplants, to be envied by any florist! In her younger years, her home often had the look of a beautiful jungle, due to the huge lush plants she had everywhere, often grown from tiny starts she had taken from other small plants.
But Janet’s greatest love of all was animals. There was no such thing as a stray in her world. There was never an animal that she wouldn’t give a home, or try to save. All animals were beautiful in her eyes.
Janet is survived by her daughter, Fawn Mihcale Shipley, Ontario; her parents, Richard and Joann Strawn, Fruitland; siblings, Rick (Debbie) Strawn, Joyce (Kim) Nichols, and Russell Strawn, all of Fruitland; eight grandchildren, Kortnei Shipley of Boise, Kiley (Tyler) Hewett of Shaker Heights, OH, Jacob Shipley of Payette, McKenna Shipley of Boise, Teagan Shipley of Boise, Dryden Lona of Ontario, Asher Lona of Ontario, and Arriannah Lona of Ontario; and one great granddaughter, Kynleigh Shipley of Boise. She is also survived by her ever-loving fur babies, Boston, Mollie, Lady, Miss Eva, Gorda-Lily, Johnny Cat and two
stray kittens.
An informal memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., on Tuesday, Feb. 7th at the First United Methodist Church, 317 S.W. 2nd St., Fruitland.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Humane Society @ https://m.secure.humanesociety.org or to the charity of one’s choice.
