Bob Uriu, age 80 passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday July 4th, 2018 in Fruitland. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Fairview cemetery in Annex, OR. Bob was born on September 4th, 1937 in Ontario, Oregon to Frank and Hatsue Uriu. The youngest of 5 siblings, Bob was raised on the family farm between Ontario, OR. and Weiser, Id. near Annex and graduated from Weiser High School in 1955. Growing up a farm kid, Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting, and participated in basketball, tennis, and judo.
In 1956 Bob enlisted in the Air Force and served actively until 1960 when he came back to work the family farm. He continued to hunt, fish, bowl, and participated as an active member with the local Japanese American Citizen League. In 1974, Bob married Paula Moline and they would have three children; Robert, Daphne, and Staci. He always ensured his children were taken care of, supported their activities, and attended their events. Upon retirement in 2005, Bob continued to help other farmers, enjoyed attending family functions, actively watched his grand kids grow, and often reminisced fondly of the memories from his youth.
Bob is survived by his son Robert (Bonnie) of Fruitland, Id., his daughter Daphne (Joel) of Payette, Id., his grandchildren (Danielle, Josh, Keira, and Bri), brother Tom (Gail) of Ontario, OR., his sister Jean of Moses Lake, WA.; well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Staci, parents, Frank and Hatsue, brother, Shaw, and sister, Kay.
