Randall Ray Hopkins, a man of unwavering faith, and a zest for life, passed away unexpectedly on August 13, 2023, in New Albany, Ohio, at the age of 73. He was born on May 16, 1950, in Pikeville, Kentucky, to proud parents Ellis and Nina Sue Hopkins. Randall's journey through life was one of dedication and service that touched the hearts of many.
Randall's legacy is carried on through his children, Kimberly Parkinson (Jesse) and Randall Jr. (Arika). He shared a profound and beautiful chapter of his life with Brenda Susan (York), the mother of his children. Their love story was one of growth, partnership, and shared commitment. Despite life's challenges, they came together to bring two wonderful children into the world, and their shared journey in parenthood remained a testament to their 46 year bond.
Randall found joy in the presence of his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Carpenter (Cole), Jesse Jr. Parkinson, Ashleigh Parkinson, Alexis Hopkins, David Parkinson, Brandon Hopkins (Konnor), as well as his great-grandchildren: Landon Carpenter, Isaac Carpenter, Amelia Carpenter, John Schrader, Hazley Schrader, and Blakeleigh Busby.
Randall's love for his brother, Ellis Edward (Vickie), was a bond that transcended time and distance. Their connection was a source of strength and support throughout their lives.
Though he worked at and retired from Big Bear Warehouse, it was his higher calling that truly defined him. On June 5, 1983, he was called to preach, answering a divine mission that guided his path. On September 7, 1985, Randall was ordained, solidifying his commitment to spreading the word of God. As a non-vocational evangelist, he touched countless lives through his sermons and spiritual guidance, pastoring numerous churches with love and devotion, and leading many people to the Lord.
Randall was more than just a man of the cloth; he was also an adventurer and a free spirit. With the wind in his hair and the open road ahead, he roamed on his beloved motorcycle, living life to the fullest. A member of the Faith Riders motorcycle club, he found camaraderie and a sense of belonging among fellow riders who shared his passion for spreading the Gospel.
His heart belonged to two states – Ohio and Florida. After retiring to Florida in 2015, he found solace in the company of his loyal companion, Buddy, as they embarked on countless golf cart rides, relishing in the beauty of the Sunshine State.
Randall's commitment to service extended beyond spiritual matters; he was selected as a Kentucky Colonel, a testament to his dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of those around him.
Randall was predeceased by his parents, Ellis and Nina Sue, and his brother Ronald Jay. Though he has left this earthly realm, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
