

Norma Jean Nixon, 89, of Reynoldsburg, peacefully went to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, Tuesday, January 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in 1935 in Canton, Ohio, at the height of the Great Depression, she was a daughter to the late James Edward Hill and Elizabeth Mayle Hill. Jean and her first husband James Kennedy successfully opened and operated El Toro, the first Mexican-American restaurant in Columbus. Later, she and her late husband Harry Nixon would open Pop’s Carryout in Reynoldsburg and a successful parts business, serving several coal mining industries and communities in the tristate Ohio River valley region. She was a member of Summit Station United Methodist Church well over 50 years and a member of the Allegheny Lenape Native American Tribe. She enjoyed church, fellowshipping with her friends, hosting family gatherings, and spending time in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. In addition to her parents and her husband Harry Nixon, she is preceded in death by her sister Faustina (Teeny) Hill and her brothers William Hill, John Kenneth Hill, and Myron Russell Hill. She was a proud mother to six children: Kathryn (David) Kennedy Grosse Lehman, Tina Tilson, Jenni (Danny) Blair, Brent Nixon, Stephanie (Sam) Nixon, and Nicol (André) Nixon Augusté and numerous others who loved her as a mother. She was blessed with 16 (3 deceased) grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Friends may call from 3:00-5:00pm, Wednesday, January 29. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, January 30, starting at 1:00pm (viewing at 12:00pm) at Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 289 S. Main St. Pataskala, Ohio 43062. The family would like thank all who reached out to us with your love, prayers, and compassion during Mom’s journey to Heaven. We would like to thank the nurses of Mt.
