Max Bolen of Pataskala, Ohio, age 92, was called home to the Lord on Saturday April 15, 2023. Born in Dexter, Ohio, Max grew up working on his family farm. He had a long career at the Standard Oil Company (now called BP). Max and his loving wife Vivian celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary in March; a testament to their love and commitment to one another.
Max was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during the Korean War. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening and had exceptional talent for both. One of his favorite things to do was tease his grandchildren, whom he loved very much.
Max was preceded in death by his loving wife of 72 years, Vivian Bolen, his parents Winnie and Wesley Bolen, his siblings Wesley Bolen, Rosalie Bolen, Catherine (Austin) Wogen, Harold (Juanita) Bolen, Roger (Betty) Bolen, Jack Bolen and brother in law Jim Nelson. He is survived by his children Susan (Richard) Brock, Rick (Paula) Bolen, sisters Donna Jean Nelson, Lois (Keith) Weaver, sister-in-law Helen Bolen, grandchildren Doug (Katie) Brock, Stacia (Lloyd) Woodcock, Michelle (Bobby) Gniadeck, Caetie (Aaron) Berger, and Laura (Brian) Ayres, 9 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was especially close to his nephew Leonard (Peggy) Wogan who was always there to lend a helping hand or to eat a piece of pie.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 19, 2023 from 10:00 am to 12:00pm with the funeral beginning at 12:00 pm at Tri Village Christian Church.
